What is a self-practice and what is a led class?

A self-practice ashtanga yoga class is where the teacher works one-to-one with students. Students come along to the group class, but practice the ashtanga sequence at their own pace up to where they have been taught. The teacher will give students individual guidance and adjustments based on their unique needs and practice. This is the traditional way to learn ashtanga yoga and is truly transformational - no more trying to keep up with everyone else in the class! From complete beginners to more experienced, all levels are welcome in this class.

Complete beginners will be taught by the teacher, beginners will be grouped together and will be given a ‘cheat sheet’ with the postures we’re learning. You will begin with breathing and learning the sun salutations and each week you build on the practice as you begin to memorise the sequence. Beginners are very welcome

A led class is where the teacher talks through the ashtanga sequence and everyone in the class follows the instructions together, at the same pace. This is a great way to learn the counted ashtanga sequence. All are welcome to a led class, but a little experience of yoga is useful.
